External Databases
The steps to try this exciting new method of data capture and distribution for yourself are as follows:

Many times, the company providing the transaction data is unable to supply all the requested fields.  That may be because the fields are not in the internal systems a company may be using, or the cost and effort of retrieving it is too great.  Relying solely on the information available in the source program can only generate a computer file with most of the needed information.

While it is often true that Most is better than None, it is also true that All is better than Most.

The EC Dynamics server provides a host of password protected, web based databases in which to store additional data fields.

The databases have multiple uses:

  1. The data stored in the external databases can be combined with user provided data. Data not available in a user's internal systems can be stored in the external databases, then automatically added to the shipment data file as it is being created or posted.  This prevents a user from having to make changes to internal data structures and/or reports to store or capture data fields.
This includes generating shipment files using the EDI-Link, ODBC LinkFile Import and EDI Upload options.

  1. The data is automatically saved to the local TranSendIT installation and included in the paperwork and resulting shipment data file. This is available only the TranSendIT users.

The Databases are:
